Something this drug maker fails to release to the public... which I am now going through.. symptoms include:
- Weight Gain
- Red Welts (though very few)
I'm on day 6 of the itching... think of flea/mosquito bites all over your body.. or the chicken pox... fun, no? I have also lost almost 2 full pounds since stopping the Zyrtec which is amazing because I haven't lost so much as a pound since June of 2007!!! So if you know anyone taking this drug or considering doing so.... please educate them about the possible side effects. I'm angry I was never warned. Even if this only effects 1 in every 1000 that is still a LOT of people who will have this problem.. and YOU could be one of them.
If you suffer from this, DO NOT take another anti-histamine.. it will prolong the itching effects.. instead deal with it by using mentholated lotions and creams. Some people say Vicks-Vapo-Rub helps.
I can't even begin to tell you how glad I am that this thing is finished! I don't know how many times I threatend to frog this thing.. In all fairness, its a beautiful pattern, its just not something you should knit while battling insomnia! I ended up using much less yarn than I thought I would. This is a nice pattern for a new lace knitter. It knits up easily, and casts off quite nicely. Knit over many sleepless nights and countless cups of tea.

Most recently finished project! A baby gift for my friend Tonya. It's adorable! I have just enough fabric left to make one more.. so I am going to make one up and tuck it away for the next special baby! My cousin Brandy also found out she is having a girl, but I am going to give her something a little different.. I'm going to wait and see what the nursery theme or colors are before making hers. I forgot to measure Tonya's blanket before packing it up but its something like 36" x 45" or so.
I've been busy sewing all weekend!! I'll have a post all about the other items I was working on in a few days. :)
One of the things I have grown to love and adore is the versatility of tofu. I sat here today thinking about how far I have come since my early days of being a vegetarian when I ate nothing but garden burgers and broccoli. During the nostalgia, I remembered the first time I ever decided to try tofu. My girlfriend and I decided we'd be adventurous and be chic vegetarian gals and do it like the big girls do.. and cook up some tofu. Now, at 13 my knowledge of cooking was probably as much as a 3yr old.. but I was ambitious, and hungry.
We were told that you basically cook it like you would hamburger and that we shouldn't expect too much because nobody likes tofu. Oh, how much I have learned since then. We tore open the package of extra firm silken tofu, sliced into thin little slices like you would a brick of cheese and dumped it into a frying pan. No, we didn't press it, we didn't season it, and we didn't even add enough oil to fry it. It was horrible.
We eagerly bit into our tofu-burgers only to make the most disgusted faces and raced to the sink. It was awful. As I have grown up I have watched the foodie shows and I have never yet seen tofu prepared in a drool inducing way. They carefully tuck them into lasagnas, blend them into puddings, or make disgusted faces when shown they must prepare a fantastic meal with tofu. Some chefs make good looking desserts but I have yet to see one of the shows where they compare to the Post Punk Kitchen pod casts
Tofu is an amazing little brick of soy... you can put it in desserts, you can put it in appetizers, you can make a whole meal out of it, and it never tastes the same.
Come on, you know the first time you made tofu it sucked too. Bad tofu stories is sorta how we bond.. kinda like men and football... only we're not usually
as drunk and we don't get that glazed look on our faces when the half naked cheerleaders walk in the room.... oh wait, Chippendales
.. Never mind.
Congratulations on making Gryffindor!
Basically, you're brave, daring, chivalrous, and pretty much.. an all around good person. Of course, some see you as a goodie-two-shoes. But hey, it's true! You're really good at winning, and normally always come out as the hero. Everybody likes you.. except, maybe, the Slytherins. You're too perfect. No, really.. You're too perfect. It's annoying to watch you win, repeatedly. Oh well. Be proud anyway.
Gryffindors to Remember:
The whole Weasley family
I'm actually kind of surprised I made Gryffindor! I don't feel very daring or brave... but what ever! I'll take it! At least my class mates are the coolest of all the houses ;) So..... which house are YOU in??? be sorted
On September 2nd It will have been two years since I walked down the isle. That's only 730 days.. but thats 730 days than I ever thought would happen. I never pictured myself being the marrying type... but I am, and it's been wonderful. We've had our share of ups and downs but I think the key to life long happiness is finding someone you like to be around and who can make you laugh even in the darkest hours... someone you stay with because you want to, not because you have to. This has been a very hard year for both of us. Sergey's grandmother has had 2 strokes, I lost my father, and we're planing to buy a house some time in the near future. I think it's pretty safe to say that we need a vacation.
We're heading to California! We are having dinner at Millennium

Anyhoo... California, here we come! Oh.. and I am still behind 1,587 people waiting for their invites to ravelry
! *le sigh*
Please help by signing and sending one of the emails to help get Michael Vick off the NFL for his horrific crimes against these dogs. He has personally tortured them, trained them, and fought them to make money.. as IF the NFL hasnt paid him enough. He shouldn't be only suspended, he should be imprisoned!https://community.hsus.org/campaign/US_2007_dogfighting_nfl2
